Guiding Young Minds Through Life's Challenges
Counselling for Children and Young People
Providing compassionate support for those aged 13-21, helping navigate family, relationships, friendships, and academic pressures.
Our Commitment to Young People
At The Relationship Therapy Practice, we specialise in offering dedicated counselling services for young individuals aged 13-21. Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive environment where young people can explore their emotions and challenges. We have two qualified Child & Young People Therapists in our team, committed to helping navigate the complexities of adolescence and ensuring each session is tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. All sessions are conducted via Zoom, allowing for a flexible and accessible approach to therapy.
Further information about how to support young people can be found in watching the below video from Young Minds.
Our Support Services
Family Dynamics
We help young people understand and improve their family relationships, addressing conflicts and fostering better communication. We can work with both parents and the child, either seperately or together.
Relationship Guidance
Our therapists are Relationship Specialists and can provide insights and strategies to manage romantic relationships, focusing on healthy communication and emotional understanding. We also have a deepened understanding of psychosexual issues that may be causing worries or concerns.
Friendship Challenges
We offer support for navigating the complexities of friendships, helping young people build and maintain meaningful connections. This can be especially useful when navigating bullying or problems around social media.
Academic Pressure
Our counselling addresses the stress and anxiety related to academic performance, offering coping mechanisms and stress management techniques.

Common Questions About Our Counselling Services
We understand you might have questions about what to expect from our sessions. Here are some answers to help you feel more comfortable.
What can I expect during a counselling session?
During a session, you’ll have a safe space to express your thoughts and feelings. Our therapists will listen and help you explore solutions to your challenges.
Are the sessions confidential?
Yes, all sessions are confidential, as long as we feel you are emotionally mature enough to make your own decisions. We adhere to strict privacy guidelines to ensure your information is protected. However we will break confidentiality if we feel that our client may be at risk of harming themselves, or someone else.
How long does each session last?
Each session typically lasts 50 minutes, providing ample time to discuss your concerns and work towards your goals.
How much are sessions?
It depends on which therapist you work with, but individual therapy sessions start at £75+VAT.
Can I choose my therapist?
Absolutely, you can choose a therapist you feel comfortable with. We can also recommend someone based on your needs. Not all of our team are qualified to work with young people under 18, so if this is the case you would need to choose between those who are qualified.
What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?
Feeling nervous is normal. After all, it can feel strange speaking to a stranger about personal or emotional issues, and often we haven’t spoken to our closest friends or family about those topics. However our qualified therapists are experienced in helping clients to feel comfortable, and will guide you through the process at your own pace.
How do I schedule a session?
You can schedule a session by contacting us via hello@relationshiptherapypractice.com and we can then let you know our current availability and fees.
What Our Clients Say
“I’d been anxious and depressed for so long I thought it would be like that forever. I now know that I can work hard at college and take care of myself all at the same time. Thank you Debbie.”
“I’ve been meaning to say once more how deeply grateful I am for all the support you gave me during our time working together. The impact of our sessions continues to shape my life in the most meaningful ways, and I often reflect on just how far I’ve come. I truly feel like I’m in a place I never thought possible—more grounded, self-compassionate, and hopeful than ever before.”
“I feel so much more positive, grounded and ‘heard’ after our sessions. You listen to my sometimes lengthy monologues, and always have the perfect question to ask and challenge my internal thinking at the end! Safe, reassuring and brilliant…”
