Online Couples Therapy for Manchester and the North West

Supporting our Northern clients and couples

Specialist couples therapy, without the London mark-up

You shouldn’t have to travel south or pay London fees to access excellent, specialist relationship therapy. The Relationship Therapy Practice works with couples across Manchester, Salford, Stockport, Liverpool, Chester, Preston, Warrington, Bolton and the wider North West — all online.

Because we work online, we can match you with a therapist whose training and style genuinely fit what you need, rather than whoever happens to have a room available in your postcode.

The Northern Couples We Tend to See

  • Busy working parents in Manchester and the Trafford/Stockport commuter belt
  • Couples in Liverpool and the Wirral navigating career moves or redundancy
  • Partners in Cheshire towns where local specialist therapy is hard to find
  • Rural couples across Lancashire and Cumbria with long drives to any high street
  • LGBTQ+ couples wanting an inclusive, non-judgmental space
  • Mixed-heritage and intercultural couples working through family-of-origin dynamics

What brings Northern couples to therapy

The presenting issue is often practical — money, parenting, in-laws, sex — but underneath there’s usually a more honest question: “Are we still a team? Are we still choosing each other?” We help you answer that question with clarity and care.

    • Feeling more like flatmates or co-parents than partners
    • Repeating arguments that never quite resolve
    • Loss of intimacy, desire or sexual connection
    • An affair, emotional or physical
    • Major life changes: redundancy, relocation, illness, bereavement
    • Considering separation and wanting to understand your options

How Online Therapy fits a Northern Week

If you’re juggling Manchester commutes, shift work at one of the big NHS trusts, or school pickups in Cheshire, the last thing you need is another fifty-mile round trip. Online couples therapy means:

        • Evening and early-morning appointments across the working week
        • Both partners joining from the same sofa — or from separate cities
        • Continuity during school holidays, business travel and family visits
        • Private, confidential access from anywhere with Wi-Fi

      Our Services

      • Couples therapy and relationship counselling
      • Psychosexual therapy and sex therapy
      • Pre-marital and pre-commitment coaching
      • Divorce and separation coaching
      • Co-parenting support
      • Individual therapy that runs alongside couples work
      • Workplace counselling, workshops and reflective supervision groups for Northern employers and HR teams

      Our Approach

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Our therapists are trained in a range of evidence-based approaches — Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, psychodynamic and systemic work, and CBT — and we draw on what fits your relationship, not what fits our preferred model

          FAQ

Can we have sessions in the evening after work?

Yes. Evening and early-morning sessions are available. Let us know your work pattern and we’ll match you with a therapist whose availability fits.

          Is therapy confidential?

Yes. We don’t share information with your employer or GP without your written consent.  The only exception to this would be if we felt there was a risk of harm to yourself or someone else.

          How quickly can we start?

Most couples have their free introductory call within a few days and begin therapy within one to two weeks.
